LYNPARZA dose management1

As part of your assessment and management of a potential adverse reaction, evaluate whether LYNPARZA dosing should be interrupted, reduced, or discontinued.

Fatigue

Patient counseling1,2

Advise patients that:

  • Fatigue is a common side effect when receiving LYNPARZA
    • Anemia is frequently an underlying cause of fatigue. Please see the Anemia section
  • Management strategies exist to aid in the alleviation of the symptoms of fatigue
  • Communication with their care team may inform their experience on therapy
  • It’s important for them to report to you if they experience weakness and/or feeling tired, as these may be signs of hematological toxicity or of a more serious uncommon bone marrow problem (MDS/AML), which have been reported in patients treated with LYNPARZA
  • They should report to their healthcare provider any new or worsening symptoms they experience while taking medication

Clinical evaluation2

As part of your clinical evaluation, consider potential causes, including if the patient’s cancer has progressed or recurred, and evaluate appropriately.

Communicate with patients to assess:

  • Severity
  • Onset
  • When they feel most tired
  • Duration
  • Changes over time
  • What triggers or relieves tiredness
  • How their fatigue affects the activities they enjoy and their daily routine

Causes of cancer-related fatigue may include:

  • Cancer treatments
  • Chronic pain
  • Depression, anxiety, and distress
  • Sleep problems
  • Problems eating and drinking
  • Anemia
  • Arthritis, heart or breathing problems, and hormone problems

Management considerations2

Patients should talk with their healthcare team about management strategies, including:

  • Physical activity
  • Energy conservation
  • Stress management (eg, mindfulness and relaxation exercises, counseling, and other strategies)
  • Trying to get good sleep
  • Balanced nutrition and good hydration
