LYNPARZA dose management1

As part of your assessment and management of a potential adverse reaction, evaluate whether LYNPARZA dosing should be interrupted, reduced, or discontinued.

Decreased appetite

Advise patients that:

  • Decreased appetite is a common side effect when receiving LYNPARZA
  • Management strategies exist to aid in alleviation of the symptoms of decreased appetite
  • Communication with their care team may inform their experience on therapy
  • They should report to their healthcare provider any new or worsening symptoms they experience while taking medication

Clinical evaluation2

As part of your clinical evaluation, consider potential causes, including if the patient’s cancer has progressed or recurred, and evaluate appropriately.

Perform detailed history and physical exam to determine the causality of decreased appetite.

Causes of decreased appetite may include:

  • The cancer itself
  • Fatigue
  • Pain
  • Medicines
  • Feelings such as stress, fear, depression, and anxiety
  • Cancer treatment side effects such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, or changes in how foods taste or smell

Management considerations2

  • Drink a liquid meal replacement
  • Eat 5 or 6 smaller meals each day
  • Keep snacks nearby
  • Drink liquids throughout the day
  • Choose liquids that add calories
  • Eat a bedtime snack
  • Talk with a dietician
